Last-Minute Christmas Laundry Checklist

1. Sort All Laundry Into Priority Piles

Laundry can feel overwhelming, especially when Christmas is approaching fast. To make the task more manageable, whip around the house and empty all laundry baskets with clothes awaiting a wash.

Once you’ve got it all in one place, sort into two piles—to wash BEFORE, and to wash AFTER. Some laundry can wait until after the holidays are over, while some will be more urgent, so make sure to prioritize the stuff you need ahead of the big day.

TOP TIP: If any of your low-priority laundry is carrying heavy stainage, pre-treat before putting back into the laundry bag. Natural stain removers won’t do any damage and will get to work—even if you’re too busy to finish the job before Christmas.

2. Make Sure Your Christmas Outfits Are Clean and Dry

There’s nothing worse than waking up on Christmas morning to find the outfit you had planned in your head is still sitting in the laundry pile, waiting to be washed. To avoid catastrophe, plan everyone’s outfits ahead of time and make sure everything is clean and dry.

TOP TIP: If you’re washing and air-drying thick sweaters, it’s best to allow at least 2 days for them to dry completely before Christmas arrives.

3. Refresh Your Spare Room for Incoming Guests

If your house turns into the local hotel during the festive season, refreshing your spare room should be at the top of your priority list.

Tasks might include:

  • Washing sheets and pillowcases ahead of guest arrival (if you’re short on time, why not try a Denver laundromat drop-off service to speed things along?)

  • Washing and drying blankets to make sure they’re smelling as fresh as possible

  • Spritzing furniture and curtains with a festive DIY linen spray

  • Stocking up your guest bathroom with toiletries, towels and emergency supplies (someone ALWAYS forgets their toothbrush!)

4. Make Sure Your Linens Are Stain-Free

If you’ve just taken your tablecloths, napkins and any other festive linens out of storage, chances are they may have gathered some stains along the way. To tackle these before your monumental Christmas feast, dedicate an afternoon to pre-treating stains thoroughly ahead of washing on a gentle cycle.

Our festive stain removal guide will come in handy in December, we’re sure of it!
